# Gap pass D, 2026-10-01

Candidates: `img-candidates/<slug>-d/` (hero.jpg, row-NN.jpg, `_sources.tsv` with source, size, note). Max 2000 px, JPEG q85. I viewed every image. Weave (hybrid, FTS) was nearly useless here: it indexes photos, found only ING mockups, Van Bostelen files and FB-export posts; "Fingertype", "Bright TV", "Teneo", "Century" gave nothing. The real finds came from four other places: (a) Lowman's own site hellowman.nl on web.archive.org (CDX works, availability API does not), (b) `B01/Graphic Design Festival.zip`, (c) a nested-zip stream of `FABRIQUE.zip > ING.zip`, (d) the Facebook export (own photos).

## Read this first

1. **Rows 50 and 51 are one work, and it is found.** A0 poster "The Typeface Dictates The Message" for the poster project of Graphic Design Festival Breda 2010. Its plate reads "ROMAN CAPITALS / THE CENTURY EXPANDED / DECONSTRUCTED BY LOWMAN" and the 5x7 grid spells THE TYPEFACE DICTATES THE MESSAGE (I read the letters off the render). Row 51's HKU match from pass A is dead: kill it.
2. **ING.zip inside FABRIQUE.zip is truncated** (no central directory; Dropbox copy of 2015) but readable by streaming: 4,503 entries, four phases. It holds the real interactive MagStream screens and wireframes. I extracted 29 single members to /tmp only, wrote none to disk beyond that, and deleted the raw copies.
3. Lowman's archived site confirms dates for three rows (below).

## 14 ING Annual Review (6 images, `ing-annual-review-d`)

| | |
|---|---|
| Images | hero = review PDF p9 quote crop "Duurzaamheid nú is de winst van morgen" (typographic, no photo). row-01 Fase 02 wireframe `ING_at_a_glance.png` (process). row-02 MagStream homepage design 10_A, crop of the orange world map "ING in vogelvlucht" (figures cropped out). row-03 Fase 03 print mockup, open book. row-04 Fase 01 concept 2, timeline of social posts (unpublished concept). row-05 whole p9 spread. |
| Archive map | `ING/Fase 01` concepts (Sept 2013, two concepts, iPad views), `Fase 02` UI screens HOME/TREND/vogelvlucht/RETAILBANKING + wireframes (Oct 2013), `Fase 03` print annual review in InDesign (Dec 2013), `Fase 04` MAGSTREM screens (cover, homepage, scroll animation, trend pages, banners, Jan to Mar 2014) and `PRINT-annualreport-fase04-01..15.indd` (to 24 Mar 2014). Dates are zip dates. Not extracted: 4,000+ other entries. |
| Risks | Final screens and covers carry the CEO portrait, the child-handstand cover and the man at the window (third-party photography, credit Suzanne Karsters per pass A): not chosen. The homepage "Resultaten/Organisatie" figures are ING's published numbers but sit in the same strip: avoided. row-03 and row-04 are concept-stage, not the published review (vertrouwelijkheid: only published): use row-03/04 only after Fabrique/ING OK, or drop. `01F Home.png` shows a green-loan headline: not used. |
| Row line (97) | The interactive annual review of a Dutch bank: wireframes, screens and print, made through Fabrique, with Since Today. |
| Blurb | As part of the Since Today team, Jonathan worked on ING's 2013 annual review through the agency Fabrique, which credits the design. The project ran in four phases between September 2013 and March 2014, from two concepts to an interactive MagStream version and a printed edition. |
| Sources | `FABRIQUE.zip > ING.zip` local-header manifest (names and dates above); PDF colophon (pass A). Interactive/MagStream: folder name `MAGSTREM` and PDF colophon "Technology: MagStream". |
| Ask Jonathan | Your role in one phrase. Is "printed edition" right (the print mockups and InDesign files exist, the PDF is A4)? werk.yaml says 2013 to 2019: nothing after March 2014 in the archive. |

## 16 Fingertype (2 images, `fingertype-d`; plus pass A set)

| | |
|---|---|
| Images | hero = Wayback capture of Lowman's own page (438x619): twelve letters in black fingerprint texture. row-01 one large "S" from the 2020 portfolio keynote data (`lowman_fingertype_3-6162.png`). Reuse pass A's A3 specimen. |
| Facts found | Lowman's page "Fingertype" is live 11 Dec 2007 (comments dated 11 and 12 Dec 2007; Lowman replies "I am working on it as we speak" to a request for a full alphabet; a Danish police fingerprint specialist asks if it will become a font). Page "Fingertype in the Adbusters" captured 24 May 2008 (four images, not archived as files). Pass A: Devroye, Beware! May 2009. |
| Risks | Whose prints: still open. Process shots and applications: none found. |
| Row line (79) | A typeface made of fingerprints, shown on Lowman's site in December 2007 and in Adbusters in 2008. |
| Blurb | Fingertype is an alphabet made from fingerprints. Jonathan, working as Lowman, showed it online in December 2007, answered readers that he was building out the full alphabet, and by May 2008 it had been featured in Adbusters. Luc Devroye's type index lists it as 2007. |
| Sources | web.archive.org/web/20071213140809/http://www.hellowman.nl/portfolio/fingertype ; .../20080524233401/.../portfolio/fingertype-in-the-adbusters (page title only; I did not see the print). |
| Ask Jonathan | Whose fingerprints? Was it a printed feature or an ad/page in Adbusters, and which issue? |

## 17 Van Bostelen (3 images, `van-bostelen-d`)

| | |
|---|---|
| Images | hero = your own Facebook photo (28 Nov 2016) of the Neo2 print page with the free-font offer, cropped to the right page (the facing page has a model). row-01 light-weight characters. row-02 both weights, full alphabet. |
| Facts found | Own words, Facebook 28 Nov 2016: "the only typography teacher I ever named a typeface after"; Herman Van Bostelen was guest speaker at the Ode aan de Fantasie opening. Lowman's page (2011 capture): "keep the overall shapes to an absolute minimum... inspired by my typography teacher Herman van Bostelen and was presented when he stopped teaching". Neo2 release: page title "Van Bostelen Free Font - NEO2", comment dated 31 Dec 2008. Lowman at UNIT (2008): confirmed on Lowman's page, 13 to 29 June 2008 "exhibiting a number of typefaces", curated by Herman van Bostelen; opening Sunday 15 June 4 pm (answers pass A's open question). |
| Risks | Hero shows a printed download code and the hellowman URL (harmless, the offer is long dead); crop excludes the model. A hand at the edge. |
| Row line (84) | A geometric typeface drawn in 2007, named after a teacher, released free through Neo2 in 2008. |
| Blurb | Van Bostelen is a typeface in two weights built from triangles, circles and as few shapes as possible. Jonathan drew it in 2007 after his typography teacher Herman van Bostelen, presented it when the teacher stopped teaching, and released it free through the Spanish magazine Neo2 in December 2008. |
| Ask Jonathan | Two weights confirmed by Devroye ("Light and Heavy"). Is "stopped teaching" yours to quote? |

## 50 and 51, one work (50: 4 images `century-expanded-d`; 51: 2 images `typeface-dictates-d`)

| | |
|---|---|
| Images | hero = full A0 poster (render of `lowman_DBTT_A0poster.pdf`, April 2010, 4.3 MB vector plus book-page scan). row-01 rows A to C close-up. row-02 rows E to G with the colophon line. row-03 the 1500x2090 press-folder JPG. For 51: same hero, plus the second poster "Give Type A Face" (red, ornamented letters; PDF 14 Apr 2010). |
| Facts (sources) | Brief PDF (`Graphic Design Festival.zip > 001 BRIEF`, Feb 2010): second edition, 8 to 30 May 2010, theme decoding; 57 designers invited to an A0 poster, shown on a route past festival locations, the brief says seen by over 50,000 people (their claim, not verified). Lowman's text (archived 22 Jun 2011): "decoding of what the function of a typeface can be was my inspiration... The shape, historic background and context of a typeface are the first elements of design that influence the reader." Your tweet 24 Jun 2010 "Portfolio update: The Typeface Dictates The Message". Your Lowman text file: "Deconstructing Type" quote (Demeude, The Animated Alphabet, 1996). Press-folder file name `lowman_DBTT_A0poster` (DBTT is only a file-name leftover from Don't Believe The Type). Reference in the zip: `Brown-alphabet-after-Serlio1921.jpg` (third-party, not used). |
| Risks | The plate re-works a historical Roman-capitals construction layout (Serlio tradition): say "after" nothing unless you confirm. The Century Expanded is Benton's 1900 face (third-party typeface): the poster's letters are your redrawing, say so only if true. Dark scan edges are part of the file. Give Type A Face: lettering authorship unknown (looks like a found ornamented wood-type style). |
| Merge | Propose one row: "The Typeface Dictates the Message" (poster), with "The Century Expanded Deconstructed" as the plate title, and drop the HKU reading. |
| Row line (92) | An A0 poster for Graphic Design Festival Breda 2010: the Century Expanded redrawn on a construction grid. |
| Blurb | For the poster project of the Graphic Design Festival Breda 2010, theme decoding, Jonathan, then working as Lowman, designed an A0 poster in which the letters of The Typeface Dictates The Message are drawn as construction diagrams of The Century Expanded, laid out like a plate of Roman capitals. |
| Ask Jonathan | Did you redraw all letters or trace the typeface? Was it printed and shown in Breda? What is Give Type A Face (GVD, Bruce Mau manifesto, GDF Breda): your lettering? |

## 60 Bright TV motion graphics (8 images, `bright-tv-d`)

All from `PF/Project Bright/TV/BrightTV_Graphics_Toelichting.pdf` (67 pages, 1920x1080, InDesign CC 2014), the storyboard of the graphics themselves: hero p1 title card BRIGHT tv on cyan; p6 logic diagram (begin/end x context/depth); p11 and p13 the leader wiping BRIGHT over an office photo; p17 leader end on the ALab building with RTLZ bug; p21 lower-third spec with measurements and typefaces; p39 lower third "Parrot Bebop Drone"; row-08 your own FB photo 27 Aug 2015 (After Effects at the RTL news floor, staff distant). Risks: RTLZ and Bright logos; photographs inside the frames are Bright/RTL editorial (building, drone); skipped pages 51 to 66 (presenters). Row line and blurb: pass B's are good; add "storyboard" wording only if wanted. Ask Jonathan: p6 diagram is yours or Bright's? Vimeo/RTLZ stills: not found, no public copy (RTLXL link in your 2015-09-22 post is dead for me).

## 42 Baby Groente Tas (3 images, `baby-groente-tas-d`)

hero = leaf pattern (`Babybox/brief/Patern/Patern .ai`, 702 px render, re-export from the .ai at larger size would be better). row-01 BB01 recipe-card right panel (steps and week schedule, a baby-face sliver at the left edge: crop more before use). row-02 card header "5 tot 7 maanden / Pastinaak". No logo file of your own found (only partner logos in `brief/LOGO`, not used). Every full card carries stock baby photos: not used. Ask Jonathan: is the pattern yours? Brand logo source?

## 53 Typefaces (4 images, `typefaces-d`)

Roman Capitals plate, Fingertype, Van Bostelen alphabet, Van Bostelen in Neo2. Adds the confirmed Unit. 2008 exhibition and Neo2 Dec 2008 to the blurb: "He showed a number of typefaces at the UNIT exhibition in Utrecht in June 2008, released Van Bostelen free through Neo2 that December, and in 2010 redrew the Century Expanded for a Breda festival poster." Sources above.

## 61 Teneo (4 images, `teneo-d`)

Your own FB phone photos (no third-party copyright, unlike the 31pictures photo): 73417896 stage screen with the app ("Wat is Teneo?"; two presenters small and dark, faces not readable), 73072896 logo and tagline on the stage screen, 31392896 app icon, 16922896 hand sketch of the value network (VC and partners). Risks: presenters are identifiable to people who know them; one other stage photo shows Cisco, Oracle, Apple logos (not chosen); text on the sketch is yours. Quantified Reality was the masterclass show title (slide visible). Your post says the final presentation was "with Onno Warns" (a person: not in text). Ask Jonathan: OK to show yourself and your teammate small?

## 32 Theater aan het Spui (8 images, `theater-aan-het-spui-d`)

Own FB photos of the work in the world (no pass-B overlap): yellow "fantasie" poster in a window (15 Mar 2015), "dans" monthly agenda in hand, season-online poster (Jul 2015), "Nee, jij maakt kunst" splatter poster, custom beachball paddles (2013, 612 px), lightbox sign (Aug 2015), season cover sketches (Sept 2015), summer display of framed posters (Aug 2016). Risks: 640 to 1080 px, phone quality; posters carry the theatre's name and web address (client); artwork of acts partly visible on the season poster (third-party shows). Posts also show "Over Boeken" campaign (Mar 2017, `#overboeken @zaal3`).

## 24 HKU seminar

Still nothing new. Pass B's four images stand; no extra material in Weave, FB or LinkedIn beyond the 31 Jan 2019 post (popyourfilterbubble.tv).

## Still nothing

HKU seminar extra images; Fingertype process shots or applications; a Baby Groente brand logo; public Bright TV stills; Adbusters pages as image files (Wayback never stored them).

## Needs Jonathan

1. Merge rows 50 and 51 into the Breda poster (strongest change).
2. Role phrase for ING and Bright TV; ING "printed" claim.
3. Fingerprint ownership; Adbusters feature details.
4. Van Bostelen: wording "stopped teaching".
5. Teneo: faces on stage.

## New unmapped projects spotted

- Graphic Design Festival Breda 2010 poster project plus GVD "Give Type A Face" (Incomplete Manifesto for Growth); Lowman portfolio list also names Back Once Again, Casco Intimate Notes, Ego Expo, Lux-a-Flex, Machine internship, Regie Dagen, ROS brochure, Reload magazine work (44 to 46), Papermind, Stain Magazine, ONcovered "Tactile Translations", Playful Type, Computer Arts feature (Lowman's archived site).
- PF folders not in werk.yaml: Anothersomthing, DH, KIM (instant-reflex site), Art_Science (TodaysArt), Drang, IMAGINE, Over Boeken.
- LinkedIn Publications: "Font Family" (Index Book 2010, experimental type) and GVD book.

## Method notes

Wayback: availability API returns empty; CDX (`web.archive.org/cdx/search/cdx?url=...&output=txt`) works, old image files were mostly never stored. Nested zip: `/tmp/gD/manifest.py` and `xtract.py` stream-inflate ING.zip (3 min per pass, writes nothing but the chosen members); the inner archive has no end-of-directory record. Single members only; /tmp raw copies deleted. No people contacted, nothing published.
