## 1. Amongst Friends (I and II), 2009 to 2010

**What:** a monthly film night in Amsterdam, "the sneak preview with a personal touch": a surprise film plus trailers chosen by the hosts, every third Monday of the month at Het Ketelhuis (Westergasfabriek), later also one-off editions elsewhere (Rooms of Red Bull, 5 Jul 2009). Hosts and curators as printed: Hein van Joolen and Nalden (website text, invites, FB messages). Ticket price on the 2010 site: not to be published.
**Dates:** zip file dates 2009-06-08 to 2009-08-25 (AF) and 2009-12 to 2010-07-15 (AF II). Invite in zip: "17/08/09 Amongst Friends #7". FB feed: edition 14 on 15 Mar 2010, 15 on 19 Apr 2010, 16 announced for 17 May 2010; the series runs to at least edition 79 (17 Aug 2015, FB events). Anniversary party plan (meeting notes Dec 2009): 3 halls, 240 seats, 26 Feb target, VJs "looked into".
**Organiser:** Nalden and Hein. Jonathan was the designer they briefed, not an organiser (see role).
**Role (verified in files):**
- AF I (Jun to Aug 2009): to-do list "17 Augustus deadline": T-shirt per edition (black on white, front unique per edition, back a touring-date grid like festivals, neck label with film date, 50 per edition) plus posters; house style + website (logo and mailing-list sign-up central, registered-only access, BuddyPress, agenda + iCal, Twitter backchannel, max 2 invites per member). Quote line in the file: offered for a fixed sum, external CSS builder. Delivered: logo combinations, T-shirt vectors (AF-shirt_lowman.eps, 2009-07-31), website layouts/slicing, HTML+CSS (04 SEND, 2009-08-11/13), e-mail invite 17/08/09 (2009-08-16), "coming soon" mailer.
- AF II (Dec 2009 to Jul 2010): meeting notes 2009-12 (attendees Nalden, Hein, Rabia): "Nalden and Jonathan have discussed a re-styling of the complete website ... Jonathan is developing a new logo and housestyle". Briefing 2010-02-10: simpler site (next-night info, iCal/Google cal/Facebook share/tweet, "send to a friend"), dynamic backgrounds in the line of Nalden/WeTransfer, inside a CMS (WordPress), new logo, deadline 15 Feb. Delivered: logo set (tifs 2010-04-25), WordPress theme "amongstfriendsII" (Wayback 2010-05-27 shows it live, edition 16, 17/05/2010), web header ribbon, A-format poster (AFposter.pdf 2010-07-15).
- Meeting notes also record the break from the clothing brand the night started under ("free ourselves from the brand"): name the brand not at all in outward text.
**Is Jonathan a DJ/VJ here?** No evidence. The anniversary notes only say VJs "will be looked into".
**Verified outputs:** logo (two versions, black and blue/copper), website design + build, WordPress theme, T-shirt concept, e-mail invite, poster. Printed shirts: not proven (only mockups).
**Candidates:** `img-candidates/amongst-friends-n/` (hero logo, blue logo, web header ribbon, poster, shirt concept). the website layout (row-05 in an earlier cut) was removed: it showed film stills with actor faces. Invite jpg held back: carries a street address. Poster and ribbon contain only URLs and venue name.
**Proposed row line:** Logo, website, T-shirt and poster for a monthly film night in an Amsterdam cinema, 2009 to 2010.
**Blurb:** Amongst Friends was a monthly film night at Het Ketelhuis in Amsterdam, curated by Hein van Joolen and Nalden: a surprise film and a run of trailers, with friends. Jonathan designed its identity twice. In 2009 he made the first logo, T-shirt concept, website and invite. In 2010 he drew a new logo and a poster and built a simpler WordPress site, so that the night had a look of its own. The series ran well beyond his involvement, past its 75th edition.
**Year range:** 2009 to 2010. **Category:** Music & events (film night; closest existing bucket). **Consent:** hosts named, ask Nalden/Hein or keep to first names plus "the hosts".
**Risks:** hosts' names are third-party (Nalden is a public figure with his own site). "Past its 75th edition" rests on FB event titles (79th, Aug 2015), not on an organiser statement: say "ran for years" if unsure. Stock background photos in the web header: licence unknown. Credentials in the brief file (see above). Earlier clothing-brand name omitted on purpose.

## 2. Dyno - Aalst, Feb 2010 (thin)

**What:** a lettering project: the word AALST as a logotype, six or more options. Zip: `001 BRIEF` (screenshots of reference type, a scan of a vintage poster with ornamental Cyrillic-style lettering, print_190210.tif), `002 SKETCH` (optie0/1/2.ai, 2010-02-18/19, optie2 on 2010-06-24, print_190210.ai), `003 PRES` (6 PNG options, 2010-02-19), `futhark/` (FutharkAOE.otf, FutharkInlineAOE.otf, 2009-11-26: third-party fonts). Dyno is the Belgian beatmaker "Dyno" (@dynooo; Drop#5 and Drop#6 line-ups, `Tape it! welcomes Dynooo` night 14 Aug 2010 per FB events; "Oh I dont know (feat. Dyno)" on Polyshufflez). Jonathan and Dyno talk in 2009 tweets about Ghent and shirts.
**What I could NOT establish:** what "Aalst" is for (a shirt, a crew, a night, a label?), the venue/date of anything, who commissioned, whether a final was chosen. No FB/Wayback/memory source mentions Aalst. Aalst is a Belgian city: the folder name suggests Dyno's home base, nothing more. Name Aalst as a place only if Jonathan confirms.
**Role:** designer of the wordmark options (Illustrator, Feb 2010). Unpaid or paid: unknown.
**Verified outputs:** only options on the screen. No flyer, shirt or web page found.
**Candidates:** `img-candidates/dyno-aalst-n/` six items (five wordmark options + an Illustrator screenshot). Excluded: print_190210 scan (third-party poster), BRIEF screenshots (other people's fonts). The stencil options (row-04) may derive from that old poster and from a third-party font: origin unconfirmed.
**Proposed row line:** Lettering explorations for the word AALST, drawn for the Belgian producer Dyno, 2010.
**Blurb:** In February 2010 Jonathan drew a set of logotype options for the word AALST for Dyno, a Belgian beat producer from the Drop nights. The sketches run from brush strokes to triangular blocks and a stencil slab, all made in Illustrator over a few days. The folder holds no final and no application, so the work stays at the stage of the options.
**Year range:** 2010. **Category:** Music & events (or fold into logos-and-marks row 54: this is a one-folder project with no outcome). **Recommendation:** fold into row 54 or skip unless Jonathan knows the outcome.
**Risks:** purpose unknown; a possible third-party font or poster as base; "Dyno" is a stage name, real name not to be published.

## 3. Father Futureback / Safe Swim (2008 to 2015)

**Correction to the brief:** the zip is not a Safe Swim site. It is the full Indexhibit site `www.fatherfutureback.com` (3,258 files, file dates 2008-01 to 2015-01): the portfolio of a Den Haag artist, Father Futureback (drawings, silkscreen, posters/flyers for bands, T-shirts, tattoos, a 2010 solo show "Out There", boards for Borneo, Tilburg Ink at Incubate). Safe Swim is a band, and the site doubles as the page of **Fort Grofusch Records**, a lo-fi CD-R label (Wayback 2010-12-22): 14 numbered releases, mostly by Safe Swim (editions of 10 to 50), plus Darod Pussy, Kingful Diner, Mocassin Headwalk, Young Barm. Exhibition id 31 in the site = the release covers (45 images, 2009 to 2015).
**Dates:** Safe Swim cover "Fort Grofush T4, 2010" and "recorded home style Jan Feb Mar 2010" (zip images 2010-03-17); Fort Grofusch 12 "Random Passion" 2010; handshake packaging photo 2012-10; live: "Safe swim kicks off" tweeted by Jonathan's `hellowman` 3 and 5 Feb 2011, Various Artists night 4 Feb 2011 poster names Safe Swim (see gaps-A). A flyer in the site (Thu 6 Oct 2011) lists Safe Swim, MSHR, Sporay, Pulse Emitter at OCCii, Amsterdam.
**Who:** the site never names a person except the alias; contact data on the contact page are an e-mail and a phone number (not recorded here). Facebook: Jonathan retweets "Solo expositie FATHER FUTUREBACK - Out There" (15 Jan 2010, "Must see") and an Amsterdam event "drawings by Saša Ostoja & Father Futureback" (20 Jul 2012) sits in his events list. Nothing says Jonathan is Father Futureback or Safe Swim. All the evidence shows a friend's practice that Jonathan followed, and a site copy that sits in Jonathan's archive.
**Jonathan's role: UNKNOWN.** Candidates to ask: (a) he built/hosted the site (the zip is a server copy incl. admin and config, last config touch 2014-06-15 and 2015-01 uploads, which looks like hosting or backup by someone with access); (b) he designed some covers or flyers; (c) he is Father Futureback or in Safe Swim. None is proven. Do not write a role until he answers.
**Verified outputs (existence only):** website, Safe Swim and Fort Grofusch covers, Adolf Butler band flyers 2008 to 2012 (hand-drawn, one is for Pacific Parc Amsterdam, 12 Apr 2008), shirts. Attribution of the flyers to the artist is by site, not by signature.
**Candidates:** `img-candidates/father-futureback-n/` seven images, all 600 px (low). Excluded: flyers with addresses/prices, the Service Animal cover (close-up of a person's eyes), "Whatchulookinat" cover (a person).
**Proposed row line:** a placeholder only until the role is known: "A friend's drawing practice and lo-fi CD-R label in The Hague, 2008 to 2015, kept in Jonathan's archive."
**Blurb (conditional, use only after Jonathan confirms his part):** Father Futureback is a Hague artist's practice of drawings, posters, silkscreen prints and T-shirts, with a small CD-R label, Fort Grofusch Records, that released fourteen limited editions, most by the band Safe Swim. Jonathan's archive holds the whole site, from 2008 to 2015, with the cover art for the releases. [His role: to be filled.]
**Year range:** 2008 to 2015 (site); Safe Swim releases 2009 to 2015. **Category:** Music & events (Safe Swim, label); the drawing practice could also sit in Art.
**Risks:** high on attribution: the claim "Jonathan's work" is unsupported. Other people's art and band names (Adolf Butler, Darod Pussy, etc.), one cover of a person, offensive band names and satirical flyer titles: check tone against the portfolio before using. A phone number and e-mail sit in the site contact page and in the zip: never publish those. The site's `ndxz-studio/config/config.php` carries database credentials: not opened.
**Open questions:** see end.

## 4. Comfort Fit (music project), 2007 to 2009

**What:** a German producer/act (Drop#6 shows "Comfort Fit (DE)"), signed to **Tokyo Dawn Records**. Album **Polyshufflez** (22 tracks, printed track list incl. features such as Dyno, Portformat, Klangstabil, Gajah). Release per Jonathan's own retweets: promo mix 23 Mar 2009, LP "available via all digital MP3 shops this Friday" tweeted 12 Aug 2009, "LP now in stores" 14 Aug 2009 (so digital release Fri 14 Aug 2009; whether a physical/CD pressing exists: unknown, the cover wrap has a spine and Tokyo Dawn credit so a physical edition was designed). A BMX promo video set to Comfort Fit music (Apr 2009) was also retweeted. Comfort Fit also appears in the Drop#6 line-up (25 Oct 2008, Amsterdam) and on CD2 with the "Dyno - Chess Tat (Comfort Fit RMX)" remix (see jl-drop-beatdrop-archief).
**Dates (zip):** logo photos 2007-01 (earliest), logo sketches v2 to v6 Dec 2008 to Jan 2009, delivered 2009-02-11, MySpace skin 4 to 5 Apr 2009 ("just updated Comfort Fit's myspace theme", tweet 6 Apr 2009), design contract file 2009-05-08, photo session 2009-05, full cover wrap 2009-05-10 (4322 x 1949 px, new vs. row 62 which shows the 2009-04 sketches).
**Organiser/label:** Tokyo Dawn Records (spine text). The act: Comfort Fit, real name not in my sources.
**Role (verified):** designer. Logo (cf monogram, slanted badge, tagline in sketch deck "Melting the old with the new. Creating future classics"), MySpace theme, web backgrounds, album sleeve for Polyshufflez. A Lowman design contract (`doc's/Lowman_DesignContract_01-2`) exists: commissioned work. Not opened beyond the file name; do not publish terms.
**Not DJ/producer:** no evidence Jonathan plays on the record. "Comfort Fit" does not appear in jl-music-lowman as his own.
**Verified outputs:** logo set (EPS/PNG), MySpace skin, backgrounds, cover wrap with track list. Real-world release confirmed only by tweets about the label's announcement.
**Candidates:** `img-candidates/comfort-fit-n/`: full cover wrap (hero), badge logo, monogram, purple background, wordmark sketch page. Skipped: photo session images (people), logo references of other brands.
**Proposed row line:** Logo, MySpace skin and album sleeve for the producer Comfort Fit and his Polyshufflez LP on Tokyo Dawn Records, 2008 to 2009.
**Blurb:** Comfort Fit is a producer signed to Tokyo Dawn Records, and Jonathan designed his visual identity. Between December 2008 and February 2009 he drew the monogram and badge logo, then a MySpace skin in April. For the album Polyshufflez he made a sleeve of rotated photo shards that spell the title, with a back cover carrying the 22-track list. The album came out digitally in August 2009.
**Year range:** 2008 to 2009. **Category:** Music & events. **Relation to row 62 (Polyshufflez):** same job; recommend merging into row 62 or making row 62 the album and the new row the identity, to avoid a duplicate. The full wrap is a better hero than the 895 px sketch in row 62.
**Risks:** photo shards are web textures with unknown licence (flagged in gaps-F); printed feat. names are third-party credits; "signed to Tokyo Dawn" rests on the spine print and tweets (the label name is public and on the cover); drop "German" unless needed (Drop#6 listing says DE).

## Open questions for Jonathan
1. Amongst Friends: was the first AF job paid as offered (fixed sum)? OK to name Hein and Nalden? Did the printed shirts exist? Which clothing brand did the night start under, and is naming it fine (default: leave out)?
2. Dyno - Aalst: what was AALST for (shirt, crew, night, label), was a version chosen, and is "Dyno" fine to name?
3. Father Futureback: who is Father Futureback, and what did you do there (built and hosted the site? covers? flyers? you are Safe Swim or play in it?). Without this answer row c stays out. Also whether the Adolf Butler/Safe Swim material fits the portfolio's tone.
4. Comfort Fit: who is the act (public name only, no real name), was the album released as CD/vinyl too, may the Tokyo Dawn name appear, and can the Polyshufflez row be merged?
5. The FTP/DB passwords in the Amongst Friends brief file: are they still live? Rotate.
